Dreams of Appearing in Hollywood Movies to Come True for Afghanistan’s Bruce Lee
Abbas Alizada says that he is going to appear in a Hollywood film this year. Alizada, known internationally as the “Afghan Bruce Lee,” is a popular martial artist, actor, impersonator and celebrity in Afghanistan.
In a story on Monday, January 9, Toronto Star reflected on the ups and downs in the life of Abbas Alizada, an actor and Bruce Lee lookalike.
The actor told the Toronto Star that after a year of living in secret under Taliban control in Kabul, he was just transferred to the UK along with 32 other athletes.
Abbas Alizada, 29, has acted in several movies and promotional videos in South and Central Asian countries since 2015. Now, he says that he is going to act in Hollywood films.
The athlete, who became famous by modeling the martial arts of Bruce Lee, the Hong Kong martial artist and his idol, said that in mid-2023, the filming of a Hollywood martial arts film will begin in which he will play a role.
Alizada said he could not reveal more about the movie, and didn’t yet know the title or plot. He added that acting in Hollywood films is one of his dreams.
In December 2014, close friends of Alizada uploaded pictures of him on Facebook striking martial arts poses like Bruce Lee, outside a crumbling palace in Kabul. He very soon became popular as Afghan Bruce Lee.
